Job Description

Purpose and Scope: The teaching faculty provide learning activities and support that lead to course objectives and contribute to the educational environment. Primary responsibilities include teaching, professional development, and institutional service.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach courses in Chemistry at various times and locations in response to institutional needs.
  • Continuously improve instructional quality using innovative methodologies.
  • Develop and use syllabi within college and departmental guidelines.
  • Plan, develop, and use diverse teaching methods and materials for varied student backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and provide timely feedback.
  • Submit required college reports and forms.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend student learning materials.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Provide access to students through office hours, electronic communication, and other methods.
  • Engage in professional development and institutional service as determined with the Dean.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Mastery of course content.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills emphasizing collaboration and teamwork.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse groups.

  • Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and technology integration.
  • Effective strategies to engage students in learning.
Physical Abilities
  • Work is sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Equipment: PC workstation, calculator, phone, and general office equipment.
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.
  • Work in climate‑controlled classroom/lab with minimal safety hazards.
  • Hours vary with class times; instructors must be available to students outside class instruction.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in chemistry.
Salary

Commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications. Salary determination will be based on submitted resume.
