Engineering Manager

STQ Partners are currently partnered with a specialist Electric Power Systems business. The business has vast experience producing high-quality, custom-built electrical power packages and executing on a range of power projects.

With multiple sites in North America, the business has over a century long heritage, serving and supplying the industrial power systems world. They are now seeking to hire an Engineering Manager as they scale to keep up with engineered‑to‑order and speciality project pipeline demands.

Products include LV MV Switchgear, E‑houses, power rooms, packaged equipment centres, motor control centres, etc.

The overall objective of the Engineering Manager is to lead the engineering and project‑management efforts on assigned projects, ensuring the engineering work is completed on schedule, meets quality standards, and coordinating the individual engineering disciplines to provide the most cost‑effective total project solution.

• Lead the engineering and project‑management efforts on assigned projects.
• Coordinate the individual engineering disciplines.
• Ensure the engineering work on the project is completed on schedule and meets quality standards.
• Develop electrical documents for the scope of work definition, specification, data sheets, equipment selection, drawing review, schematic development, wiring diagrams, physical layout drawings, and project close‑out procedures for low to medium‑voltage industrial power distribution systems.
• Hold review meetings and check‑in procedures – check performance is within the baseline man‑hour and material budgets, required deliverables are produced, and change management is executed in a timely manner.
• Review the status of the schedule and progress performance with the clients regularly, and keep the general manager apprised of issues.
• Ensure the quality of the engineering execution and deliverables.
• Participate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, and conducting or training seminars.
• Prepare purchase requisitions for various electrical equipment.
• Lead inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for relay panels, power distribution centres, and remote instrumentation enclosure buildings.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of pertinent codes and governing regulations, and industry practices.
• Review estimates to confirm the technical offerings of the product.

• BS or higher in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical design and engineering.
• 5+ years of experience managing project managers and junior engineers.
• 5+ years of product knowledge of key electrical components of a Protection & Control Panel (SEL, Electroswitch, test switches, etc.).
• 5+ years in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Substation Design Suite (SDS) is preferred.
• Analytical abilities and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Growth mindset with the ability to accept challenges.
