Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Outpatient Physical Therapy, the Outpatient Services Coordinator is responsible for directly coordinating the operations of the front office. This includes, but is not limited to, communication with patients and/or family members, physicians and office personnel, scheduling and tracking of patient flow, admission process support, documenting and maintenance of logbooks as needed, and knowledge of Meditech and other basic computer programs used within this department.

Accountable for maintaining and improving job knowledge and skills as required to further support hospital’s mission, goals, and objectives.

What You Will Do in This Role
  • Constant watch for errors. Realizes the consequences that medical information errors can have on patient care.
  • Initiative to personally make appropriate corrections and communicate errors to others for corrective action.
  • Communicates serious errors to the Director to ensure correct handling and to prevent recurrence.
  • Consistently established office routines follow to keep work flowing. Shows ability to adapt to special situations or temporary lack of staff.
  • Consults with department directors to ensure that patients receive accurate instruction regarding technical or medical information pertaining to outpatient exams.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operation of computer systems, i.e., Meditech, PCI, IMPAC, MS office, etc.
  • Maintains responsibility for and completes clerical tasks efficiently and demonstrates understanding of the receptionist’s functions.
Qualifications You Will Need
  • Medical experience and proficiency in medical terminology preferred.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Cheerful positive attitude; excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform in a fast‑paced, multi‑task environment.
