Texas Oncology, the largest community oncology provider in the country, is looking for a Float Phlebotomist to join our team at the Conroe, Texas location. Typical work week is Monday through Friday with no call, no weekends or major holidays. This position can be Level I, II, or Senior based on candidate experience.

Under direct supervision, the phlebotomist collects and processes specimens from patients, follows quality assurance and safety policies, assists with patient flow, identifies patients, draws blood samples and sends to laboratory, maintains collection areas and equipment, and performs record‑keeping. The work follows standard operating procedures and adheres to quality guidelines.
Responsibilities- Perform phlebotomy and collect appropriate specimens as ordered.
- Assure pre‑authorizations and complete appropriate consent (ABN) before limited coverage tests.
- Maintain documentation per the quality assurance program.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure viability before use.
- Sends specimens to reference laboratories for testing not performed in house.
- Process incoming orders and in‑house reports.
- Update and file all daily paperwork, lab logs, and maintenance logs.
- Identify and band patients for blood product transfusion; process labeled specimens per bloodbank policy.
- Operate laboratory equipment as directed.
- Keep equipment and work area maintained.
- Perform waived lab testing under CLIA guidelines; record lot numbers of controls, calibrators, reagents.
- Comply with regulatory standards, OSHA laws and Universal Precaution procedures.
- Properly dispose of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean working environment and restock the phlebotomy and laboratory area.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information.
Level I (Entry Level):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licensure from an accredited phlebotomy school recommended; current state licensure if applicable.
Level II: (in addition to Level I)
- Three (3) years of experience.
Level Senior: (in addition to Levels I & II)
- Five (5) or more years of experience.
Requires full range of motion, manual/finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, prolonged sitting/standing, handling of instruments, occasional lifting up to 40 lb, corrected vision, color perception, hearing, legible handwriting. Reasonable accommodations will be offered.
Work EnvironmentRegular exposure to direct contact with patients, blood/body fluids, chemotherapeutic agents, infectious agents, corrosive chemicals, glassware, needles. Reasonable accommodations will be provided.
