Montgomery County is looking for a highly motivated and skilled GIS Analyst I to join our dynamic GIS group. Our mission is to provide reliable, innovative, and high-quality geographic information systems (GIS) products and services that empower Montgomery County public safety officers, first responders, and citizens to make informed decisions and improve the quality of life in their communities. - Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, or relevant discipline; or any equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in GIS, with at least one year focused on public safety applications.
- Proficiency with Esri software, including ArcGIS Desktop, Pro, ArcGIS Online, and development tools and scripting languages.
- Strong ability to explain complex GIS concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Required to complete FEMA training within one year of start date.
- Requires basic word processing and/or data entry experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of troubleshooting issues under pressure.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work after-hours and weekends as required.
- Must be available to work non-standard hours and respond during emergency situations.
- Manage sophisticated GIS applications tailored for public safety needs.
- Conduct data collection, analysis, and maintenance to ensure data integrity and usability in emergency situations.
- Provide training and support to public safety personnel, enabling them to utilize GIS tools effectively during both routine operations and emergency scenarios.
- Actively participate in emergency response efforts, providing real-time geospatial analysis and support as needed.
- Continuously seek ways to enhance the functionality and effectiveness of public safety GIS applications.
- Provide second-tier support to Helpdesk.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
