Job SummaryPanelmatic Inc. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Metal Fabricator. The Fabricator produces a variety of sheet metal parts that meet dimensional requirements. Sets up and aligns parts per shop prints in preparation for welding and performs welding operations and final fabrication assembly. Works either individually or as part of a small team to produce metal buildings and enclosures.
Job Duties / Responsibilities- Consults blueprints, work orders, and/or schematics to safely construct the specified structure; develops additional sketches if needed.
- Selects appropriate material for each job based on the desired or necessary strength.
- MIG welds mild and stainless steel.
- Cuts, bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions.
- Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
- Hammers, chips, and grinds workpiece to cut, bend, and straighten metal to meet specifications.
- Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications using square, ruler, and measuring tape.
- Connects pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws.
- Performs assigned work on assembly such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters.
- Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
- Coordinates required shutdowns and startups of equipment with other departments after sheet metal installation.
- Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs.
- Maintains clean and orderly workspace.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Notifies the lead person or Inspector when the product is ready for inspection.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area each day and returns tools to their proper locations.
- Two plus years of experience welding in a manufacturing or industrial setting required.
- Two plus years of experience in forklift operation required.
- Two plus years of experience using basic tools (squares, clamps, fillet gauge, angle finder, etc.) required.
- Two plus years of experience with fabricating tools and equipment (shear, brake press, turret punch, CNC laser, ironworker, band saw, welding machine, cutting torch, plasma cutter, grinder, overhead crane, etc.) required.
- Two plus years of experience in applicable Quality Assurance Procedures (QAPs) required.
- High levels of organizational and time management skills required.
- High levels of analytical, observational, and active listening skills required.
- High levels of reliability required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required.
- US work authorization without sponsorship required.
- Ability to pass physical, drug, driving, and background checks required.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, push/pull, and stoop/bend as needed; ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to read a tape measure and prints; ability to convert decimals to fractions and use conversion charts.
- Excellent manual dexterity and color vision/eye Sight required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1G & 3G Welding certification preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred.
Welding Test Required.
