Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for an Oncology Clinic and Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our professional team in Conroe, Texas. This full‑time role is Monday‑Friday, no weekends or holidays, and no on‑call duties.

The Conroe facility is conveniently located near I‑45, SH‑105, and the Grand Parkway. The center offers advanced treatments such as radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and clinical trials within a community setting that includes top‑rated schools, scenic escapes, and a vibrant downtown.

Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country with over 600 providers operating in more than 300 sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients and reviewing medical history.
  • Assess patient/family needs, provide teaching, psychosocial support, and other instructional material.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care:
    • Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy line and record the information in the chart.
    • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments.
    • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document information in the chart.
    • Assist communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
    • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
  • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
  • Prepare and administer therapies in accordance with physician direction:
    • Administer all medications/blood products using correct dosage, route, time and technique.
    • Ensure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained before administration.
    • Facilitate dose modifications by assessing patient labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management.
    • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
    • Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
Qualifications
  • Education/Training:
    • Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program (BSN preferred).
    • Registered Nurse state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Maintain continuing education requirements.
    • Entry level (0–3 years nursing experience) or more; oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience Levels:
    • Level I:
      Graduate of accredited program.
    • Level II:
      Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.
    • Level Senior:
      Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology; oncology certification preferred.
  • Other:
    • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary team.
    • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
Working Conditions

The work environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.

Physical Requirements

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods. May lift and carry items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
