If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Lead Practitioner of English.
This is a unique leadership role for an outstanding teacher of English who can combine classroom excellence with the vision to shape teaching and learning. You will play a central role in driving academic rigour, creativity, and intellectual curiosity, ensuring our students leave with not just strong results, but also the confidence and independence to flourish beyond the classroom.
- Lead professional development, mentoring, and coaching.
- Design and share innovative teaching resources that stretch and challenge the most able while supporting all learners to achieve their potential.
- Contribute to curriculum design across the Trust, ensuring that our English provision is ambitious, engaging, and academically rigorous.
- Support staff in developing high‑quality practice rooted in scholarship, critical debate, and cultural capital.
- Use data insightfully to target interventions, refine pedagogy, and ensure consistently excellent student outcomes.
- Create a CPD programme that equips staff to effectively teach English qualifications.
- Recent experience of teaching English Literature and/or Language, with a track record of excellent outcomes.
- The ability to lead high‑impact CPD, inspiring colleagues with both subject knowledge and pedagogy.
- A deep understanding of exam board specifications, curriculum design, and wider developments in English education.
- The vision and drive to mentor colleagues and build capacity across the department.

We operate a probationary period of 6 months across all jobs in the Trust (please see attached policy for further details). You will receive a comprehensive induction to support you to successfully pass your probation.
