22 College
Our Catch
22 College is the collective name for 7 sites across the country delivering academic and vocational training programmes for young people aged 14+ who, for whatever reason, are not suited to a mainstream college setting. The College provides a highly supportive environment where learners can build confidence and skills to achieve their goals. We exist to help our learners find their future.
The Recruitment and Progression Officer will play a leading role in recruiting learners onto the programme and supporting them throughout, conducting monthly reviews and sourcing work placements in the local area. This person will develop strong links with local (sometimes national) employers to create work placement and employment opportunities, match learners to placements, and ensure they receive necessary support to succeed.
MainDuties & Accountabilities Recruit learners onto the Study Programme
- Engage with Local Authorities, NEET teams, schools, colleges and referring agencies to forge links and recruit learners.
- Be responsible for recruiting the target number of learners for all vocational based programmes.
- Serve as the first point of contact for the learner and successfully recruit them onto the programme.
- Complete initial interviews, ensure all eligibility checks are completed, and upload enrollment forms.
- Conduct regular 1-2-1 progress reviews with learners, identifying career progression and work placement choices.
- Liaise with teaching staff and attend weekly meetings with the lead tutor to discuss progress and create bespoke learner journeys that include completing Individual Learner Plans (ILPs).
- Carry out home visits when necessary to maintain attendance.
- Network with other agencies, parents and carers involved in supporting individual learners.
- Match learners to the right placement, prepare them for it, and support them through it with site visits and regular check‑in sessions to review progress.
- Support placement providers, helping them understand their role in supporting each student’s development while on placement.
- Contribute to the overall success of the Catch
22 College by sharing our vision and values, fostering a culture of trust and respect, and being flexible and ready to collaborate.
- Report directly to the Catch
22 College Lead Teacher. - Work in close collaboration with the College team, comprising a Lead Teacher, Teacher, Teaching Assistant and Administrator.
Full driving licence and ability to use a car for work purposes. Experience working in an education or vocational training setting, or demonstrable knowledge of the challenges of such a setting.
Person Specification- At least a Level 2 Qualification in English and Maths.
- Experience working in an education or vocational training setting, or knowledge of its challenges.
- Good practical knowledge of common ICT software packages, especially MS Office.
- Able to engage, inspire and motivate young people.
- Strong communication and engagement skills, able to form strong connections with professionals and partners.
- Proven experience of engaging stakeholders for recruitment and progression.
- Willingness to travel frequently within the local area and occasionally further afield, including overnight stays.
- Willingness to work additional hours when needed to get the job done.
- Salary: £30,000.
