Child Care Worker - St Monica Catholic School Overview
Employment Status: Part-time
FLSA: Non-exempt/Hourly
Reports to: Director
ESSENTIAL
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise children at all times, maintaining a secure, safe environment for children to play and learn in.
- Supervise and train assistants in your room on policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Create and implement lesson plans.
- Complete necessary classroom reports.
- Prepare daily reports for each child in your classroom.
- Attend staff meetings outside of work hours.
- Provide positive feedback to parents.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.
- Adhere to proceedings and regulations with the DFPS.
- Change diapers/ toilet train children where necessary.
- Always comply with the presentation requirements set by the school.
- Attend ongoing training to keep education and regulations up to date.
- Participates in dismissal procedures at the end of after care, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult (i.e., an authorized adult).
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
- Maintains a stimulating and varied schedule of activities appropriate for the students in a well-ordered environment.
- Positive interaction with parents.
- Attend Archdiocesan, on campus and other in-services as required.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Director.
- Have copy of medical and emergency records and first aid kit on hand daily.
- Ensure that during the hours of operation there is at least one staff member trained in CPR/First Aid.
- Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
- Able to work well with others in a school community.
- Ability to follow directions and handle multiple tasks.
- Possesses proficient technology skills.
- Skill in critical thinking and planning.
- Skill in motivating and engaging students in the learning process.
- Skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable format.
- Required to work some nights and weekends.
- Required to manage high to moderate levels of stress.
- Required to work in standard school conditions.
- Required to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment.
- Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger.
- Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis.
- Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading.
- Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement conditions.
- Be an educator.
- Be able to adapt to continuously changing, fast-paced environment and make the children’s needs the primary focus.

High school diploma or equivalent - Experience
:
At least 18 years old;
One (1) year of experience in a childcare setting - Other Requirements
:
Meet state’s education criteria;
Excellent communication skills;
Be a team player;
Have reliable transportation; CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained during job training);
Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening
