Position SummaryTutor‑Mentor for Upward Bound (Academic Year 25‑26)
- Provide 2 hours of weekly in‑person after‑school tutoring at assigned target school (currently Mayflower & Perryville). T/M may choose which afternoon(s) work best with their schedule (coordinated with the target school). T/M will be reimbursed for mileage by submitting monthly TR‑1s.
- Assist with supervision of Upward Bound participants throughout the academic year program. This includes weekly tutoring at the target school, Saturday Academy meetings (as requested/available), and/or field trips (as requested/available).
- Provide continual peer advisement to participants.
- Perform periodic one‑on‑one mentoring sessions with students as needed using provided student questionnaires (via phone).
- Help create an environment that promotes intellectual, academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Facilitate appropriate social interactions with students.
- Maintain regular communication with Director and Coordinator regarding progress of participants.
- Participate in all in‑service training and staff meetings as requested.
- * Other duties as assigned.
- Serve as a positive role model and effectively confront inappropriate and negative behaviors.
- Dress appropriately while participants are present.
- Act as a positive and professional Upward Bound representative at all times.
- Do not discuss your private life such as parties, sex, drinking, etc.
- Actively confront and document participants that do not follow Upward Bound rules.
- Maintain appropriate relationships with students and do not spend time with participants off the job.
- Under no circumstances is a student to spend the night with staff on or off campus.
- Never allow a student in your car nor give them a ride.
- When attending field trips, the T/M is expected to attend all activities scheduled therein.
- Trip T/Ms will supervise a group of students at all times during the trip.
