What you will do:
This position oversees classroom curriculum and classroom management including behavior support under the coaching and guidance of the Director of Preschool Services. You will provide support and coaching to the Classroom Lead Teachers and Classroom Teaching Assistants. The Early Childhood Behavior and Classroom Coach ensures the implementation of developmentally appropriate practices in the classroom environment through actively modeling and coaching within the classroom setting.
- Oversees implementation and modification of classroom curriculum on a weekly basis.
- Creates preschool classroom schedules for individual classrooms, library, recess, lunch, and special events, and modifies as needed.
- Creates and distributes monthly classroom calendar to all preschool classrooms.
- Aids in communication to therapists concerning classroom curriculum and activities in conjunction with the Administration team.
- Oversees the evaluation and development of Individual Treatment Plans (ITP) as needed and monitors each ITP for progress/goal completion.
- Leads meetings, as needed, with each child’s parent/guardian and/or therapist.
- Oversees the provision of Habilitative Services in the classroom.
- Supervises the direct care provided to EIDT recipients.
- Participates in 45- and 90-day reviews for all new enrollees in the preschool.
- Serves as Lead monitor of Recess Zones for safety and Indoor Recess Quality.
- Ensures all classroom documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensures completion of Handwriting Without Tears and Kindergarten Readiness assessments twice per year as outlined in the academic calendar to be presented to parents at the annual Parent Teacher Conference.
- Assists in classrooms as required by center needs.
- Refers non-classroom management related issues to the Director of Preschool Services.
- Oversees curriculum supply list and ensures acquisition of supplies.
- Maintains and submits receipts and budget for each month.
- Leads weekly toddler and Pre-K curriculum meetings during the weekly lead teacher meeting.
- Leads a classroom team meeting with each classroom team at least once a month and reports agenda and findings to the administrative team.
- Provides feedback and follow-up to each classroom and/or individual teacher during the monthly classroom team or individual meeting as needed.
- Models appropriate teaching/engagement/interaction as needed following the classroom team meeting.
- Works to effectively train teaching staff as needed for optimal classroom functioning.
- Actively attends and contributes to all required administrative meetings.
- Assists with multidisciplinary conferences and parent conferences as needed.
- Actively observes, supports, and models as needed in classroom activities in each classroom daily. Activities to include:
- Circle Time, Center Time, Arrivals, Departures, Transition Activities, Academic Activities, Recess Time, and Nap Time
- Implements behavior management through modeling and coaching with appropriate use of supports and de-escalation strategies
