Compensation
Pay or shift range: $65,000 USD to $75,000 USD. This is an estimated pay range for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
DescriptionThe Estimator develops cost and production estimates for bid projects by performing site inspections and specification requirements for utility company customers.
Essential Functions- Perform complete estimate from receipt of bid package through final bid review, including site visits and scope determination
- Apply and develop logical assumptions to takeoff tasks
- Communicate effectively with Regional Managers and Inside Sales Manager to process scope of work, labor, equipment, and schedule requirements
- Conduct review of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities
- Participate in the estimate review process to determine successes and failures
- Assist with final estimate for presentation to customers
- After the bid, collect and organize all bid information for use in the future
- Manage the available bid time to ensure accurate and timely preparation of a complete estimate
- Organize and detail the estimate with proper labor and equipment needed so that it can be properly priced, easily understood for review purposes, and efficiently turned over to the Inside Sales Manager
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, fairness and ethical behavior when representing the company
- Maintain a professional appearance, and overall communication with internal/external contacts
- Stay up-to-date with latest estimating technology and techniques
- Demonstrate basic estimating skills by interpreting data
- Question assumptions and present ideas to Regional Manager
- Assist Regional Managers with other operational and safety tasks including storm preparation
- Identify local trees and possess knowledge of growth rates
- Know labor and equipment needed to perform jobs
- Meet deadlines and work well as part of a larger team in preparing bids for customers
- Travel and drive long distances to properly bid jobs
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Be self‑motivated, organized, production oriented

- At least 5 years’ experience in electric utility vegetation management
- Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
