• Licensed Practical Nurse by Arkansas Board of Nursing
• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certified
• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Instruction certification preferred
• Possesses the ability to work with children; experience with children preferred
• Basic computer aptitude

The contract length will be 187 days.

Based on local district policy and performed by the building principal who is assisted by the assistant principal in regard to evaluations.

The Licensed Practical Nurse will support and assist the registered nurse in all areas in order to support, promote, and assist in student health care needs.

• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Assists the registered nurse in all aspects of their responsibilities, to include but not limited to the following:
  • Administering prescribed medication.
  • Keeping and/or maintaining records related to student care.
  • Assisting students with any health‑related needs, including self‑care needs such as hygiene, toileting, catheterization, blood glucose monitoring, nutrition, tube feeding, etc.
• Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, and parents/guardians; resolves conflict in a professional manner.
• Assists the registered nurse in the coordination of medical information among the parent, the school, and the medical provider.
• Supervises a variety of student activities, including playground, cafeteria, bus loading and unloading, field trips, hallways, and other areas where students gather.
• Assists the registered nurse in the maintenance of appropriate and secure confidential records, information, and inquiries.
• Assists the registered nurse in the evaluation of student injuries, determination on course of action, and performance of first aid in compliance with the registered nurse’s guidance.
• Assists the registered nurse in completing and maintaining communication logs with staff and parents, if appropriate.
• Assists in and is participatory in the development and implementation of health care plans as directed by the registered nurse.
• Assists the registered nurse in the maintenance of the immunization program.
• Assists the registered nurse with all screenings required by the Arkansas Board of Education.
• Other duties, as assigned.
