- Teach undergraduate Spanish language courses at all levels and intercultural studies courses in English, with a 3/3 teaching load.
- Lead and direct basic language programs, incorporating high‑impact practices and inclusive pedagogy.
- Oversee curricular and extracurricular activities and contribute to ACTFL Standards implementation.
- Prepare course content, syllabi, and Moodle/curricular site; communicate with students, evaluate assignments and calculate grades per Faculty Manual.
- Track and report absences and other administrative responsibilities.
- Conduct research and contribute to knowledge in second language acquisition or related fields; train students in research techniques and creative production.
- Maintain regular office hours, participate in faculty committees, events and other university activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Required:
- Ph.D. in Spanish with specialization in applied linguistics or second language acquisition – degree earned by start date.
- Native or near‑native proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Experience teaching language courses to students from diverse majors at a U.S. institution.
- Evidence of scholarly activity in SLA or related areas.
- Evidence of proficiency in teaching with technology.
- Preferred:
- Experience coordinating language programs or supervising instructors, lecturers, or graduate teaching assistants.
- Experience with course development in Languages for Specific Purposes.
- Evidence of exceptional teaching.
- Must hold the appropriate terminal degree or meet the established alternative qualifications and exhibit strong potential for excellence in teaching.
