The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Under general supervision of the Zoning Administrator, this position performs functions involving the gathering and reporting of data and the preparation of this material in graphic form.
Works closely with the public on a regular basis to provide customer service on Planning & Zoning issues.
The position involves gathering and reporting data, preparing materials in graphic form, and providing customer service on Planning & Zoning issues under the Zoning Administrator.
Responsibilities- Assist Customers with rezoning and/or zoning board of appeals applications, consulting with customers and Zoning staff to determine the best zoning district for the requested use. Process applications by keying information to Ener Gov and scanning applications. Proof public hearing notice, agenda, and Planning Commission and/or Zoning Board of Appeals packets. Complete staff analysis and report, including use of ArcGIS, OnBase, Land Records.
Prepare PowerPoint presentations for staff, board and Council meetings. Maintain Rezoning and/or Zoning Board of Appeals spreadsheet in Excel, including PC recommendation, County Council Readings, and Ordinance or Resolution numbers. Review and process Zoning Compliance applications. Assist with Street Naming & Addressing. Assist with front counter reception when needed. Knowledge of technical GIS (Arc Map), Access and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of personal computers or the ability to learn the use of personal computers including various GIS applications as well as spreadsheets, Access, and PowerPoint.
Ability to draft neatly and accurately. Ability to research and analyze data and present it in graphic form. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to work quickly and accurately to meet deadlines, and to handle multiple tasks as needed. - Associate degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and training, experience, knowledge and abilities. Must have extensive experience with computer and office software packages. Persons with knowledge of Planning, Zoning, GIS or experience with preparation of minutes and meeting set-up is preferable. Candidates must be able to pass required pre-employment physical and background check.
