A key upcoming focus will be supporting the delivery of two footbridge widening schemes in North Wales . Both schemes form part of Network Rail and Transport for Wales’ active travel infrastructure improvements, specifically involving the widening of existing footbridges to achieve DDA compliance and enhanced accessibility for local communities.
In addition to these works, the client has further pipelined work delivering civil engineering works delivering bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, tunnels, footbridges across the region.
As a Site Engineer, you will report to the Site Agent or Project Manager and will be responsible for the planning and safe delivery of site‑based engineering activities.
The role is Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working to support possession‑based delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead on-site SHEQ compliance and promote a culture of safety
* Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
* Carry out accurate setting out and surveying
* Oversee engineering activities to ensure systematic, high‑quality delivery
* Supervise site operations including direct labour, plant, and subcontractors
* Maintain accurate site records and daily diaries
* Manage material take‑offs and procurement
* Plan and coordinate weekday and possession‑based weekend/night works
* Support the production and review of ITPs, WPPs, Task Briefs and other documentation
* Provide day‑to‑day support and leadership to subcontractors and junior engineers
About You
To excel in this role, you will have strong engineering capability and proven rail or civil engineering project experience. You will be confident in setting out, working in possession environments, and delivering works in a fast‑moving, multidisciplinary setting.
Qualifications
* Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering
* PTS (Personal Track Safety)
* Full UK Driving License
Experience
* Proven setting out and surveying experience
* Experience in planning and delivering site works, including ITP, WPP and Task Brief documentation
* Experience working in rail or complex civil / structural engineering environments
