Finance Accountancy Officer (Contract)

We are working closely with a local authority in Conwy to assist with the appointment of a Finance Accountancy Officer on a 3‑month contract, highly likely to be extended at the client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £13.86 – £18.12 per hour

Summary: The Finance Accountancy Officer provides comprehensive financial, accounting, and advisory support to schools across Conwy County Borough Council. The role assists in budget preparation, financial reporting, year‑end accounts, financial forecasting, reconciliation, and financial system administration while providing expert advice on school budgets, financial procedures, VAT, procurement, and accounting practices.

• Provide comprehensive financial support to schools in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Produce financial reports, budget monitoring information, and management reports for Headteachers and Governing Bodies.
• Respond promptly to enquiries relating to school budgets, payments, income, charges, procurement, and financial procedures.
• Perform monthly reconciliations between school financial records and the Council’s corporate ledger.
• Support the ongoing development and improvement of financial reporting systems.

• Good general standard of education including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

• Experience working within a finance, accountancy, or financial administration environment.
• Experience supporting budget preparation, monitoring, and financial reporting.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures.

• You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
