Clinical Lead GP

In addition to working within the service, the role of the GP Clinical Lead will be to provide leadership in Clinical Governance matters, as well as to provide mentorship, guidance and support to practice Practitioners working within the service. The GP Clinical Lead is an integral member of the practice area senior management team and will participate in key decisions relating to the management and strategic direction of the practice within their cluster.

To this end they will work closely with the cluster lead and Community Resource Teams to ensure the practice is exemplary in their cluster engagement and driving forward the cluster or CRT agenda.

• Work closely with the practice management team, the cluster lead, and clinical leads in other health board managed practices to develop the services provided in the managed practices across the area.
• To create a culture of learning and training for all staff, develop and implement processes for quality improvement.
• Act as a point of reference for salaried and locum GPs, or other Health Professionals to provide management and clinical guidance, advice and mentorship as appropriate.
• To work with the area nursing team to support the mentorship and development of advanced nurse practitioners within the practice.
• Maintains the highest clinical standards at all times and practices in accordance with accepted good medical practice and service standards.
• Provide clinical advice and guidance to all practitioners caring for patients of the Practice.
• Ensure adequate and appropriate supervision and mentoring for salaried and locum GPs working in the service.
• Promotes the health and well-being of all medical and clinical staff within the practice by promoting efficient working methods and behaviours.

• To provide guidance and professional support with neighbouring health board practices to develop continuous improvement activities, to enable the population to access a wider range of healthcare provided from the different health board practice bases.
