About the Role
Certified Medication Aide (CMA) – First Shift at Oaks Senior Living.
Position SummaryThe CMA provides hands‑on supervision of caregiver staff, ensuring quality resident care and upholding Oaks Senior Living's philosophy. The CMA administers scheduled medications per state regulations and company policy, offers personalized care, responds to emergencies, and protects residents' rights to safe, prompt, and confidential treatment.
Qualifications- Minimum one year of experience with residents in a senior living environment.
- Supervisory experience in healthcare or service industry preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Georgia Certified Medication Aide Certificate.
- Good standing with the Georgia CNA/CMA Registry.
- Good English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- Friendly, caring disposition with a desire to work with older adults.
- At least 21 years of age; satisfactory criminal history check required.
- Physician‑certified physical exam and negative drug screen.
- Ability to react in emergency situations.
- Carry out all duties as assigned by the Wellness Director and/or Executive Director.
- Supervise caregiver staff to provide quality care that aligns with Oaks philosophy and policies.
- Adhere to individual residents' Negotiated Service Plans and notify appropriate directors of any changes.
- Answer and respond immediately to resident calls.
- Seek assistance from leadership before performing medications or treatments when in doubt.
- Assist with meal serving, supervise dining room, and ensure post‑meal cleanup.
- Implement standard precautions to control infection spread and dispose of infectious waste per policy.
- Build relationships with residents and families.
- Respond to resident emergencies following procedures.
- Help develop and maintain caregiver schedules that meet resident needs.
- Handle on‑the‑job injuries per company policies.
- Complete 32 hours of continuing education units (CEU) biennially as outlined by the Alliant GMCF Registry.
- Lead by example, encourage teamwork, and promote the Oaks philosophy.
- Offer an open door for employee concerns and grievances.
- Maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
- Follow the six rights of medication assistance (right resident, right drug, right dosage, right time, right route, right documentation) at each step.
- Administer medications per the Medication Observation Record (MOR) and protect privacy.
- Respect residents' right to refuse medication and explain each medication before administration.
- Observe residents for adverse reactions and report immediately to leadership.
- Report all medication errors honestly and immediately.
- Attend all staff meetings and required training.
- Effectively communicate residents' needs to caregiver staff during shift changes per policy.
- Report noted changes in resident condition, medication reactions, or concerns to Wellness Director and/or Executive Director.
- Ensure required paperwork for resident care is completed and current.

- Stand or walk up to eight hours per day; sit up to two hours.
- Frequently support up to 70 pounds; occasionally lift or carry up to 15 pounds.
