Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and within the policies of the organization. Provides perioperative care to surgical patients.

Reports to:

Nurse Manager. FLSA:
Non-exempt.

• Performs patient assessments and reassessments to recognize abnormal findings and takes action to address. Also includes medication administration/reconciliation, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment. Reviews all aspects of surgery plan and develops intra-operative care plan.
• Circulates on all specialties to include interviewing patient, patient positioning, prepping operative area, counting instruments and sponges, ensuring operation of equipment and trouble shooting, retrieving needed supplies/instruments during case, conducting Universal protocol, placing dressing over wound and giving report to PACU during hand off.
• Documents patient care given.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Provides physician specific discharge instructions.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

$15,000 with a 2 year agreement

Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support)
required
CNOR (Perioperative Nurse)
preferred

Licenses:

Current GA RN
2 years experience in operating room preferred
