The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, follows all company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in assigned tasks during all working hours and will perform a range of functions across the store as business needs require.
The Associate may be requested to perform additional tasks in specific situations to help achieve our customer‑service and operational goals.
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviours in everything they do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone, keeping egress clear and reporting unsafe conditions promptly.
- Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times.
- Assist customers in any way necessary—be register‑trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably, and greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly hello and thank‑you.
- Provide prompt and efficient responses to customers at all times; respond to customer‑service calls immediately and handle issues in a courteous manner, calling store leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer, and team areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company dress code.
- Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery per best practice to ensure a neat, clean, and organised store.
- Expedite newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor urgently, merchandising all items per best practice and monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understand the Loss Prevention Awareness program, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers, safeguarding confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follow all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, correctly processing MOS merchandise and notifying store leadership for disposal approval.
- Follow all policies concerning cash, check, card and refund transactions, voids and offline procedures, maintaining a high level of accuracy when handling bankable tenders.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency to efficiently perform role and maximise productivity by executing all store best practices while minimising steps and touches.
