Position: Primary Care Physician (MD/DO) - Veteran Affairs Outpatient Clinic
Overview

Valor Healthcare is seeking a Physician (MD/DO) to join the VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Cookeville, TN. Qualified candidates must be board eligible or certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Responsibilities
  • Actively diagnoses and treats our veterans.
  • Examines patients for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders, determines nature and extent of injury/disorder, and performs comprehensive physical examinations.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans and assists in provision of continuity of care.
  • Orders and performs diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribes medication and recommends dietary and activity programs as indicated by diagnosis.
  • Counsels patients on the use of prescription medications, educates patients, assesses mental health issues, and provides routine health maintenance.
  • Evaluates patients’ records from medical providers outside the VA and works with these patients utilizing VA co-managed care rules.
  • Completes clinical reminders due at the time of each patient visit.
  • Completes the documentation of the medical record within 24 hours of a patient encounter.
  • Solicits medical management consult or input when appropriate.
  • Complies with VA guidelines for responsive patient requests, alerts and notifications, consults, orders, lab results and diagnostic studies.
  • Serves as a collaborative physician to mid-level providers where appropriate.
  • Maintains timely clinical documentation, including completion of encounters by close of business.
  • Addresses clinical needs of walk-in/triage/urgent care patients.
  • Complies with VA and company training requirements and maintains women’s health certification competencies as needed.
  • Fulfill compliance requirements of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission (JC), Environment of Care (EOC) oversight, lab compliance and related items.
  • Focuses on achieving excellent clinical outcomes according to VA guidelines.
  • Provides excellent customer service to veterans, colleagues, and clinic visitors.
  • Participates in clinic outreach events to support enrollment initiatives.
  • Supports patient enrollment and retention by guiding scheduling and follow-up visits as needed.
  • Supports new clinical or operational initiatives that drive Valor’s success.
Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with no nights, on-call, or weekend shifts.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine Degree (MD or DO)
  • Board Certified/Eligible in Family Practice or Internal Medicine (IM or FM)
  • Must be credentialed and remain in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA)
  • Must maintain a valid, unrestricted medical license in the state of employment or as required by VA contractual requirements
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (renewed as required by the certifying agency)
  • Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
  • Excellent computer and EMR skills
Compensation

Final compensation will be based on relevant factors including work experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.
