HVAC Technician – Job Description

HVAC Technician to perform installs, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role requires strong technical knowledge, troubleshooting ability, and adherence to safety and industry standards.

• Install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, ventilation systems, and refrigeration units.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using testing equipment, gauges, and diagnostic tools.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance such as cleaning coils, replacing filters, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting system components.
• Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to properly service equipment.
• Replace or repair defective parts such as motors, compressors, fans, thermostats, relays, and wiring.
• Test system performance to verify proper operation and compliance with manufacturer and industry standards.
• Handle refrigerants safely according to EPA guidelines (EPA 608 certification if applicable).
• Respond to emergency repair calls and provide on-site troubleshooting.
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and repair costs to customers or supervisors.
• Maintain accurate service logs, documentation, and parts usage records.

• Experience in HVAC installation, service, and repair.
• Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• EPA 608 certification (Universal or applicable level) preferred.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools, meters, and HVAC equipment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Clean driving record preferred.
