Magherafelt Overview OB Construction is a growing construction business seeking an Accounts Assistant / Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some accounting or bookkeeping experience who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and expanding company. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of finance activities and will have opportunities to grow their responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities Assist with day-to-day finance and accounting activities. Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts and payments. Perform supplier and customer account reconciliations. Assist with bank reconciliations and cash management activities. Support month-end accounting processes. Assist with payroll administration and related finance tasks. Support VAT returns and compliance activities. Maintain accurate financial records and documentation. Assist with financial reporting and management information.
Support process improvement initiatives and systems development within the finance function. Provide general administrative support to the finance team as required. Essential Requirements Previous experience in an accounts, bookkeeping, finance administration or similar role. Good numerical and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Experience Experience using Xero accounting software. Experience working within the construction industry or a project-based environment. Qualified Accounts Technician or Part Qualified / currently studying towards an accounting qualification.
Experience with payroll processing or credit control. Interest in finance systems, technology and process improvement.
