Trainee Accounts Administrator Cookstown
We are delighted to be partnering with a growing and well-established business to recruit a Trainee Accounts Administrator for their finance team based in Cookstown.
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in accounting and gain broad, hands-on experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control and payroll.
Working closely with the wider finance team, you'll receive full support and practical exposure across a range of accounting processes, while developing your skills in a busy and supportive environment. Day release is also available for candidates attending college to complete an Accounting Technician qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with processing accounts payable transactions and ensuring invoices and payments are recorded accurately
- Support accounts receivable activities, including processing payments and resolving customer queries
- Assist with credit control and following up outstanding customer balances
- Enter and maintain accurate financial data across accounting systems
- Assist with account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Maintain organised records of invoices, receipts and other financial documentation
- Support month-end accounting activities and reporting requirements
- Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll
- Use accounting software including Sage, Xero and Dext
- Assist with maintaining accurate customer and supplier records
- Support the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting and administrative duties
- Develop knowledge of accounting processes and best practices through hands-on experience
Who We're Looking For
- Strong interest in developing a career within accounting and finance
- Previous experience within an office, administration or finance environment would be advantageous but is not essential
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working with numbers and financial information
- Good IT skills and willingness to learn new accounting systems
- Strong communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions
- Students currently studying, or planning to study, an Accounting Technician qualification are encouraged to apply
