About the Role

As a Relief Shift Manager in Liquid Processing, you will report to the Liquid Processing Production Manager and support the day-to-day operational management of the department.

You will lead a small team across key operations including milk intake, liquid despatch, evaporation, water processing, and stock control, with overall site responsibility outside normal management hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and oversee liquid processing operations, ensuring safe and efficient performance across all shifts
  • Coordinate daily activities including intake, dispatch, evaporation, and water processing to meet operational targets
  • Lead, develop, and manage team performance, attendance, and communication
  • Provide regular production updates, highlighting KPIs, trends, and improvement opportunities
  • Ensure products meet quality, hygiene, and food safety standards
  • Apply lean principles, problem-solving, and root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate stock control, minimise waste, and improve yield
  • Build strong working relationships with production, engineering, quality teams, and contractors
  • Promote health & safety compliance and support a strong safety culture
About the Person
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience in process control or plant operations
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Degree in a science or Food Technology discipline
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or process improvement
  • At least 12 months’ experience in a supervisory or team leader role
