Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Thoracic Oncologic Surgeon to join our growing practice in the Twin Cities.
Practice Details- Our Thoracic Surgery Division is part of the department of Surgical Oncology comprised of Thoracic oncology, Surgical oncology, Urologic oncology and Hepatobiliary divisions. The practice covers all aspects of Thoracic Surgery including benign and malignant conditions of the lungs, mediastinum, pleural space, chest wall.
- The thoracic surgery team consists of 3 thoracic surgeons, 3 PA's, a clinic RN, a thoracic nurse navigator and a provider coordinator.
- Practice calendar includes 2 days in clinic, 2 days in surgery and procedures with 5th day flex for combination of admin time and overflow surgery/procedures.
- Weekly multi-disciplinary tumor board meetings.
- Direct patient care; surgical, inpatient and clinic based thoracic oncology care.
- Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
- Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
- Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.
- Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.
- Treats the full spectrum of benign and malignant disease including diseases of the pleura, lungs, esophagus, mediastinum, and chest wall
- Performs a broad range of thoracic procedures including minimally invasive thoracic surgery, robotic surgery, VATS, advanced bronchoscopy, and endoscopic procedures for lungs and esophagus
- Participates in an established Lung Cancer Screening Program
- Opportunity to perform Robotic foregut surgery and utilize the LINX device and TIF procedures
- Participates in innovative research that includes clinical trials, patient-centered outcomes, and research and scholarly activities across many medical specialties
- Participates in collaborative, cohesive thoracic team in a supportive and committed organizational environment
- Utilize quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement. May participate in peer review and quality assurance.
- May provide care in an ambulatory clinic, inpatient or outpatient hospital setting.
- May participate in on-call rotation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine
- Completion of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Thoracic Surgery
- Completion of Thoracic Oncology Fellowship
- 2+ years of trained thoracic or cardiothoracic surgeon with an emphasis in thoracic malignancy
- 2+ years of robotic surgical skills
- Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Thoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, or in Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery by the AOA Board of Surgery required upon hire
- Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate required upon hire
- ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Allina Health required upon hire
