Parenting Education Facilitator/Program Assistant .2 to .4 FTE - Coos County
The Parenting Education Facilitator supports the goals of the regional Parenting Hub by implementing and delivering parenting education programs using evidence‑based curriculum. The role fosters positive family engagement, models effective communication and guidance strategies with parents and caregivers, and plays a key role in grant‑related implementation and reporting. The facilitator coordinates with the Parenting Hub Manager and staff, represents the program within the community, and provides flexibility for direct service, logistical support, and outreach efforts, including occasional evening, weekend, or virtual commitments.
EssentialFunctions
- Facilitate parenting education classes using approved, evidence‑based curricula.
- Model positive parenting techniques, communication, and guidance strategies.
- Implement, monitor, and report on Parenting Hub grant activities and deliverables.
- Maintain regular contact with families to support participation and engagement.
- Coordinate with Parenting Hub staff on scheduling, outreach, and logistics.
- Manage class setup and cleanup, including preparing materials and organizing meals/snacks.
- Shop for supplies and submit receipts, credit card documentation, and related paperwork.
- Represent South Coast ESD and the Parenting Hub on regional committees and task forces.
- Assist in the development and dissemination of curriculum related to grant projects.
- Coordinate community involvement and engagement efforts with Parenting Hub and South Coast ESD.
- Present program goals to schools and community organizations.
- Assist in developing and reviewing program goals, policies, and procedures.
- Establish and maintain rapport with families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Support both in‑person and virtual delivery with flexibility for evenings and weekends.
- Maintain program records, attendance, and required documentation.
- Comply with South Coast ESD administrative rules and board policies.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with professional and legal standards.
- Meet standards for competent and ethical performance as outlined in OAR 584‑020‑0035.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to speak with individuals and small groups in an articulate manner.
- Ability to speak at meetings and before groups in an articulate manner using prepared materials and spontaneously.
- Ability to provide dynamic training to diverse learners and adjust to different cultural environments.
- Understanding of the education enterprise and the mission of ESDs in Oregon.
- Demonstrated skills in critical thinking and problem solving.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, integrity, confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
- Demonstrated ability to organize time and resources to perform multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others and to provide effective leadership.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s Degree in Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or a related field with at least two years’ experience is preferred.
The employee works with Family Support and Early Learning Services team members under general supervision of the Parenting Hub Manager and the Superintendent. The schedule is flexible to accommodate travel, evening meetings, and deadlines; however, comp time is not awarded. The role requires conflict resolution skills and effective communication in emotional situations involving staff, students, parents, and patrons. Confidentiality is a top priority.
The employee may need to lift materials up to 40 pounds and assist in moving students when protocols permit.
- Salary: $20.62 to $21.89 per hour.

Coos County. - Union: OSEA #119 – 12 month Classified.
- First consideration given to OSEA #119 bargaining association members.
