Aeroderivative Turbine Mechanical Field Service Engineer
At Baker Hughes, our Gas Technology team delivers industry‑leading products and services that optimize the extraction, production and processing of energy. We help customers across the value chain reduce operating costs and improve productivity.
Responsibilities- Provide technical direction for on‑site activities, ensuring safety, compliance and quality.
- Perform mechanical and hydraulic maintenance, repair or replacement of turbine components.
- Use hand tools and small power tools to conduct general maintenance of Aeroderivative Gas Turbines.
- Execute on‑site job duties, including subcontractor coordination and customer/internal communication.
- Troubleshoot complicated mechanical and hydraulic problems on variable‑pitch/variable‑speed turbines.
- Oversee overhaul, troubleshooting and commissioning of Aeroderivative products at customer sites.
- Lead in customer and contractor meetings to share and update action plans and advise on technical solutions.
- Ensure training, compliance and quality documentation is updated and followed according to company standards.
- Ensure all in‑field activities comply with company EHS guidelines and procedures.
- Technical degree or program and 4+ years of experience as a mechanical technician on aircraft engines, aero‑derivative engines or gas turbine technology.
- Strong mechanical/technical knowledge and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of rotating equipment installation and maintenance: bolting, hydraulic bolting, flange management, small‑bore piping.
- Experience in an energy or oil and gas environment.
- Customer service‑oriented mindset and ability to lead customers through tough decisions.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to customers and teams with varying levels of technical understanding.
- Deep awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance and potential risks.
- Motivated self‑starter who makes key decisions and innovates solutions.
- Travel availability: 70% of the time domestic and global.
- Travel to customer sites in line with customer requirements; duration of work at site and hours will be in line with customer requirements.
