Surgical Tech - PRN
Bay Area Hospital
Compensation- Hourly rate: $30.96 - $45.95 USD (depending on experience)
- Shift: Varied
- Hours per pay period: 0 (part‑time, hours TBD)

Part time
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists the physician performing a surgical procedure by establishing and maintaining a sterile field in the operating room, setting up equipment, scrubbing in, handing instruments and supplies to surgeon. Assists the surgical team by preparing patient for transport out of the operating room and cleaning the operating room.
Skills and Abilities- Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
- Functions appropriately in a crisis/emergency situation
- Ability to read, write legibly, and converse effectively in the English language
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
- National certification as a Surgical Technician (Non Certified military trained personnel meets the following State of Oregon Requirements):
- Provides Bay Area hospital with documentation showing that the person has completed a training program for surgical technologists in the US military and completed 16 hours of continuing education
- Will be required to complete the 16 hours bi‑annually while employed at BAH as a Surgical Technician
- Recent (within past 2 years) experience in acute hospital operating room preferred
- Union Affiliation: UFCW

- Compensation Grade Profile: U076
- Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
- Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
- Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
- Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye‐hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
- Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
- May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
- Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids
- Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
- May require periodic use of personal computer
