• Review documentation and assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
• Communicate with physicians to clarify documentation or diagnoses and follow up on queries
• Ensure accuracy in coding and billing processes to meet departmental goals
• Assist the billing department with patient eligibility verification and resolving denied claims
• Maintain knowledge of current coding rules and trends through continued education

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of experience with physician coding
• AAPC Credential:
  Minimum certification of a CPC, or AHIMA certification, or in pursuit of certification
• Proficiency with Microsoft product suite and internet
• Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills, both verbal and written

• Experience in a healthcare-related billing or coding position
• Additional certifications in coding or billing specialties
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and compliance
• Knowledge of revenue cycle management
• Strong problem-solving skills
