Job Description

Phlebotomist Clerical Support. Obtains blood specimens, in a courteous and professional manner, from patients of all age ranges.

Skills And Abilities

• Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position
• Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
• Exhibits the ability to deal effectively interdepartmentally & with the public
• Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision in all situations including traumas
• Must have legible handwriting
• Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location

Education / Certifications / Licenses / Degrees

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
• Registered as a Certified Laboratory Phlebotomist with a national certification agency for medical laboratory personnel or the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or show proof of pending recertification preferred

Experience

• Working knowledge of, but not limited to: HIS and LIS computer systems and related equipment, 5‑line telephone, Vacutainer System‑syringes, butterfly needles, safety needles, finger‑heelstick devices, autoclave and barcode printers preferred

• Requires frequent use of personal computer
• Demonstrates manual dexterity
