What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
  • Review clinical documentation to accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes for orthopedic services
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, CPT, and ICD-10-CM guidelines and proper modifier usage
  • Conduct MIPS reviews and Provider QA for orthopedic documentation and coding accuracy
  • Audit orthopedic charts, documenting errors and providing insights to coding management
  • Mentor new orthopedic coders in training by reviewing their work and providing feedback
What is Required (Qualifications):
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • RHIT and/or CPC certification or equivalent required
  • 1–2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably with orthopedic coding experience
  • Deep understanding of CPT coding for orthopedic procedures and ICD-10-CM coding for musculoskeletal conditions
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Experience with auditing orthopedic charts and conducting quality assurance reviews
  • Familiarity with state/federal regulations and payer‑specific guidelines for orthopedic services
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and billing software
