In addition to driving strategic priorities and organizational performance marketing organization, the Vice President (VP) of Marketing serves as a vital member of the senior leadership team, bringing their market expertise and strategic thinking to support the overall organization’s strategy and direction, including shining a bright light focus on how our solutions make an impact for educators and students, exploring new ways to innovate our business through AI, and identifying sustainable operational efficiencies that lead to better outcomes for the people that we serve.
The VP of Marketing is a solution‑oriented, innovative leader who owns the strategic vision and the overall marketing strategy and empowers the marketing team to deliver excellence.
The ability to leverage internal and external data reporting is critical to this role. The VP of Marketing makes data‑driven decisions that ensure short—and long‑term goals support customer satisfaction, brand loyalty, and financial objectives. They explain the logic of these decisions clearly, growing consensus within the organization on decisions, and enabling the Marketing team to leverage data in their roles.
As a critical element of the position, the VP of Marketing is responsible for recruiting, retaining, developing, and supporting talented marketing professionals who collaborate across the company to ensure we bring our best to the market.
Job Responsibilities Brand & Market PositioningEvolve Explore Learning | Learning A-Z’s market narrative to position it as an essential partner in every classroom, harmoniously aligned with research.
Serve with senior leadership at Explore Learning | Learning A-Z and parent company Cambium to evolve the brand to reflect its current state and aspirations for the future.
Maintain a strong pulse on the education industry by staying close with sales, clients, prospects, industry leaders, and competitors to identify and act on revenue opportunities for the company.
Build a culture of security, safety, and stewardship; effectively convey Explore Learning/Learning A‑Z as a brand worthy of customer trust.
Build, inspire, lead, and champion a high‑performing marketing organization that delivers against KPIs.
Develop KPIs in support of employee performance review that balance career and skill development with recognition and accountability.
Be accountable for improving internal and external communications.
Manage go‑to‑market planning and execution for new products and product versions, including leading pricing, bundling, and messaging strategies with Product Management.
Integrate sales enablement into the marketing process, ensuring cohesion and excellence throughout the buyer’s journey.
Lead the marketing planning process and manage the marketing budget.
Understand and optimize the customer lifecycle from prospective user to enthusiastic advocate; track success with data including win/loss rates, renewal metrics, NPS, and ACV.
Work in partnership with Product, Data and Analytics to measure and market the impact in the classroom.
Consult with the Product Strategy Group, seeking what is essential in the classroom and what drives impact for teachers and students.
Be curious about AI applications in marketing and be able to guide the adoption of new technologies.
10+ years of marketing experience, with a minimum of 5 years leading high‑performing marketing teams within the edtech industry. K‑6 literacy and K‑12 STEM experience preferred.
