Role Purpose
The Business Development Representative – Commercial is an individual contributor role focused on driving company growth through new business development and lead qualification. Working closely with Marketing and field Sales teams, this role is responsible for converting marketing-qualified leads into sales opportunities and developing new prospects through targeted outbound activities.
This position plays a critical role in building pipeline, engaging prospective customers, and enabling the success of the commercial sales organization.
Key Accountabilities
- Generate and qualify new sales opportunities through inbound lead management and outbound prospecting within an assigned territory
- Convert marketing-qualified leads (MQLs) into sales-qualified opportunities through timely follow-up and effective discovery
- Execute outbound calling campaigns and multi-channel prospecting strategies (phone, email, social media)
- Deliver compelling value propositions and conduct discovery calls to identify customer needs and opportunities
- Build relationships with key decision-makers and assess buying readiness, timelines, and next steps
- Consistently achieve or exceed established activity metrics and opportunity generation targets
- Maintain strong knowledge of Signant Health’s products, services, and competitive differentiators
- Effectively address objections and align solution capabilities with prospect needs
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all prospect interactions in the CRM system
- Participate in trade shows and industry conferences as required
- Perform additional responsibilities and projects as assigned
Decision Making & Influence
- Evaluate prospect engagement and qualification status
- Determine appropriate timing for sales handoff and provide thorough opportunity briefings to Sales
- Influence prospecting strategies and contribute to continuous improvement and team best practices
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
Essential Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding sales or activity targets
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-driven
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
- High level of integrity, accountability, and work ethic
- Resilient mindset with the ability to learn from challenges and adapt quickly
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, or CRO environments
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Experience using CRM platforms
