• Design, develop, and deliver new security features for the Media Wiki platform
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure safe architectural and implementation choices
• Lead code reviews and foster a culture of transparency and collaboration within the team
• Maintain security‑critical components and address technical debt
• Provide support during application security incidents and operations

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a software engineer, preferably with a focus on security
• Proficiency in modern PHP and JavaScript codebases
• Strong ability to create proofs of concept and break down complex projects into actionable tasks
• Experience in developing secure software or security‑related product features
• Ability to communicate complex security issues to non‑technical audiences

• Experience with anti‑abuse mechanisms such as CAPTCHA and bot detection
• Background in building security countermeasures against various types of attacks
• Familiarity with threat modeling and secure design patterns
• Prior experience with Media Wiki or Wikimedia projects
• Contributions to open‑source software
