Position SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems to support the efficient production of BMSC products. This role plays a critical part in conceptualizing and implementing new tools, fixtures, and methods, while ensuring product quality, cost‑efficiency, and compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including Quality, Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain to support new product introduction, continuous improvement initiatives, and equipment sourcing or qualification.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, hands‑on problem‑solving skills, and a continuous improvement mindset to drive operational excellence across the manufacturing floor.
- Conceptualize new processes, equipment, tools, and fixtures for the manufacturing of BMSC products.
- Source, test, and qualify production equipment.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute activities in support of project goals.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes for energy use, material waste, and environmental impact.
- Drive cost‑reduction initiatives through design‑for‑manufacturability (DFM) and process optimization.
- Analyze process data and metrics to identify trends, inefficiencies, or opportunities for improvement.
- Perform troubleshooting of equipment and tools.
- Work with suppliers to resolve design/production issues of supplied materials or equipment.
- Act as a technical liaison between engineering, operations, quality, sales, and supply chain.
- Create operational and manufacturing engineering presentations and reports.
- Mentor junior engineers and help build technical depth within the team.
- Participate in coaching and training of production operators and associated production staff.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Knowledge of value stream mapping, 5S, root cause analysis, and DMAIC problem‑solving.
- Proficient in designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling using CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Creo, AutoCAD).
- Experience creating, validating, and refining manufacturing processes (including routings, process flow diagrams, etc.).
- Ability to assess and document risks in new or existing processes.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a mechanical, industrial, or similar relevant engineering field.
- Strong proficiency with using Solid Works or similar platform (3 years+ preferred).
- Knowledge of statistical techniques and design of experiments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Skilled with computers and Microsoft ecosystem including Office products and Teams.
- Experience with digital CMMS.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Regularly sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to sit, balance, climb, stand, bend, squat, squeeze, kneel, turn, crouch, and stoop repeatedly.
- Physically able to lift 75 pounds and manipulate up to a 500‑pound drum on a regular basis.
- Frequent exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, heavy machinery, fumes, airborne particles, electrical, chemicals, and moving parts.
- Prolonged use of computer screen.
