Manager, Indirect Tax

We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Indirect Tax Manager to lead all aspects of indirect tax compliance and strategy. This role focuses on sales and use tax, property and real estate taxes, and audit management across a multi‑state, multi‑unit operation. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Tax, the Indirect Tax Manager will also play a key role in developing and implementing tax strategies that align with business goals, ensure compliance, and minimize tax risk.

• Oversee U.S. sales and use tax compliance, including managing outsourced return preparation, filings, and remittances via third‑party providers.
• Maintain and support Vertex for accurate Use Tax determination and reporting.
• Manage sales/use tax audits, including data gathering, issue resolution, and communication with tax authorities.
• Oversee property and real estate tax compliance in partnership with external consultants, including the review and appeal of assessments.
• Analyze tax data, perform reconciliations, and ensure accurate accruals and reporting.
• Monitor indirect tax law changes and evaluate their impact on business operations and systems.
• Support store openings, remodels, closures, and other initiatives with indirect tax planning and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with the Vice President of Tax to develop and implement indirect tax strategies, process improvements, and long‑term planning initiatives.
• Provide training and ongoing support to cross‑functional teams regarding indirect tax policies and procedures.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus, but not required.
• 5–8 years of experience in indirect tax, preferably in a multi‑state, multi‑unit retail, casino, entertainment, or restaurant environment.
• Proficiency with Vertex for Use Tax and working knowledge of Workday ERP, a plus, but not required.
• Experience managing outsourced sales/use tax compliance and defending sales tax audits.
• Familiarity with property and real estate tax compliance and working with third‑party consultants.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; detail‑oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
• Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills across departments and with external partners.
