PRIMARY PURPOSESupervise students assigned to In‑School Suspension (ISS) program for disciplinary reasons. Work under the general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of a certified teacher.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Certification:
Must have one of the following:
- 48 hours of college credit, or Associate’s Degree or higher, or
- HS or GED with Region 12 Paraprofessional Academy certificate
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to use personal computer
One year experience as classroom aide.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES- Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to provide an environment for students removed from their classroom.
- Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
- Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
- Supervise students assigned to ISS program (in‑school suspension) during lunch and bathroom breaks.
- Assist in supervising students during the school day, both inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom and bus duty.
- Assist with office clerical duties as needed. Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Mental Demands:
Reading; ability to follow instructions (written and verbal), communicate effectively, use personal computer, and maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Moderate standing, stooping, and bending.
