Purpose:
Assist the school principal in the overall administration of the instructional program and operations of all campus level. Coordinate assigned student activities and services.
Qualifications:- Education/Certification:
Master's degree - Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
- Advanced Education Leadership (AEL) certification, Instructional Leadership Training (ILT), or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD)
Skills:
Working knowledge in the fields of scheduling, cooperative learning, learning styles, behavioral management, The Effective School Correlates, Site-Based Decision Making, special needs students, and budget development.
Experience:Two years experience as a classroom teacher
Residency Requirement:District residency will be a consideration in the selection process.
MajorResponsibilities and Duties:
- Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.
- Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers to pilot such efforts when appropriate.
- Facilitate the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.
- Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
- Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Participate in collaborative processes to develop campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
- Assist principal in developing, maintaining, and using appropriate information systems and records necessary for attainment of campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.
- Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with staff; serve as a primary appraiser in the Texas Teacher Appraisal System.
- Assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
- Supervise operations in the absence of the regular principal.
- Assist in the administration of the daily organization of the school including class scheduling, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities.
- Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with the visiting teacher on investigative follow-up actions.
- Work with department heads and faculty in compiling annual budget requests based upon documented program needs.
- Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; conduct inventories; maintain records; and verify receipts for such material.
- Cooperate in the conducting of routine drug searches, safety inspections, and safety drill practice activities.
- Coordinate custodial and building maintenance services as assigned.
- Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
- Coordinate and provide adequate supervision of students during non-instructional periods.
- Handle student discipline referrals, manage student behavior, and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct, Student Handbook, and Individual Education Plans.
- Provide input to develop the Student Code of Conduct that results in positive student behavior.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
- Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers concerning school and student issues.
Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with school principal. Supervise teachers, custodians, aides, clerical personnel, and others when assigned by principal.

Occasional district wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
