Job Summary

The Team Leader is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with the execution of operational, sales, and merchandising objectives by delivering a Legendary Customer Experience. The Team Leader is also responsible for promoting a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors, and for training Team Members on the appropriate application of policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (min 5%)
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Work scheduled shifts and be available for varied hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Uphold and enforce a safe and productive work environment following company policies.
  • Deliver Legendary Customer Service through the GURA model:
    • Greet the Customer.
    • Uncover Customer Needs & Wants.
    • Recommend Product Solutions.
    • Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
  • Perform key day‑to‑day duties:
    • Execute assigned merchandising activities.
    • Perform opening and closing procedures.
    • Transport and deposit money to bank.
    • Assess store conditions and assign duties.
    • Organize and prioritize workflow using the daily planner.
    • Recover merchandise as needed.
    • Participate in freight processing.
    • Perform price change activities.
    • Resolve customer complaints to ensure a Legendary shopping experience.
    • Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to alarms.
    • Communicate with Team Members on job functions, responsibilities, and financial goals.
    • Operate cash registers/computers while supervising cash handling procedures.
    • Assist Team Members in applying policies and procedures.
    • Sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks and care for birds as required.
    • Operate forklift and baler.
    • Complete all related documentation.
    • Obtain necessary licenses or certifications.
  • Be ready to perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge (strongly preferred).
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Minimum 18 years of age and a valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required; must be able to read, write, and count accurately.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.
  • Ability to perform and execute the principal responsibilities of Team Members.
Working Conditions
  • Generally indoors with moderate noise; floors and lots are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt).
  • Work shifts typically 4‑8+ hours.
  • Outdoor work in adverse weather conditions may be required.
  • Promote a safe and productive environment, adhering to company safety training and guidelines.
Physical Requirements
  • Move and transfer merchandise up to 50 pounds.
  • Push and pull up to 2,000 pounds with proper equipment.
  • Occasionally lift or reach overhead.
  • Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders frequently.
  • Move throughout store for an entire shift.
  • Safely access all areas including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area.
  • Operate store equipment: computer, cash register, forklift, baler, dolly, hand truck.
  • Read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
  • Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Process information through point‑of‑sale system.
  • Handle contact with poultry.
  • Complete required training and certification (propane dispensing if applicable).
  • Travel as required to support district needs.
  • Drive or operate vehicle for business needs.
  • Position is non‑sedentary.
