PRIMARYPURPOSE:
Maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for the district. Maintain and provide for the safe conditions and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems in district facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma
- Valid Texas Driver License
- Apprentice License
Skills:
- Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring and operating principles of motors.
- Knowledge of local electrical codes.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material.
- Ability to read and understand instructions in English.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
- Ability to use hand and power tools. Must possess good leadership qualities
- 2,000 hours working with a master electrician.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintenance and Repair
Align the major functions of the assignment with district goals such that all students succeed.
- Assist licensed electricians by carrying tools, materials, and preparing work areas.
- Perform basic tasks under supervision (measuring, cutting, bending conduit).
- Learn safe operation of hand and power tools
- Maintain clean and organized work spaces.
- Observe and report potential repair needs to supervisors.
- Follow all district and OSHA safety rules.
- Wear required PPE consistently.
- Maintain reliable attendance and participate in safety training.
Effectively direct Electrician Apprentice and other Electricians on projects. Provide opportunities to learn additional job skills appropriate for their assigned duties.
Equipment Used:Multimeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe bender and threader; hand and power tools (saw, drill, etc.); trencher; jackhammer; concrete saw; ladder other tools as needed. Light truck or van.
WORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching, heavy lifting and carrying. Must be able to lift fifty pounds. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions; around electrical power; outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, lifts and scaffolding; and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noises, dust, debris, fumes and toxic chemicals.
Frequent district wide travel.
