What We Are Looking For
We are currently seeking a self-motivated, responsible and well-organized Accounting Clerk – Cashier to join our Revenue Services team. This position performs various duties, including clerical, cashiering and providing information and assistance to the public. The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: receiving and preparing tax, utility and other payments for processing; calculates real property charges such as penalties and interest;
preparing tax and utility account adjustments; providing excellent customer service both in person, by telephone and through email; batch balancing, filing, clerical work and other related duties while supporting the needs of a busy department.
The ideal candidate will have completed Grade 12 supplemented by business administration or accounting courses and a minimum of two years’ office experience in related clerical or cashier work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. We are looking for someone with accounting knowledge, accurate calculator and data entry skills, solid cash handling skills, prior experience dealing with the public, and possessing strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when required.
Prior municipal experience and/or experience using Tempest software would be an asset.
This position is required to work in-person at the Coquitlam City Hall.
What We Offer:This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $33.09-$38.87 (2025 rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
