About the Role  The Tax Specialist plays an active role in the delivery of tax planning engagements, meeting expectations for budget, timeframe and quality.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Preparing tax technical research including various tax correspondence and memos for estate planning, corporate reorganizations, CRA audits, and other tax transactions
Completing complex tax planning calculations for corporate reorganizations and divestitures
Preparing complex tax compliance, including tax returns and election forms
Providing support for team members on tax related matters for all clients
On an ongoing basis, identify opportunities for additional Rise services with existing clients and proactively move the opportunity forward within the firm as required
Required Experience, Qualifications and Characteristics:
Undergraduate degree in an accounting program
Designated CPA
Completed Year 1 of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course, or currently enrolled in Year 1 of the CPA Canada In-depth Tax Course is preferred
3+ years of public practice experience, with a minimum of 1 in Canadian private company tax
Strong tax compliance background with an understanding of the issues and challenges faced by small-to-medium sized businesses
Independent, highly motivated, and a self-starter
Multi-tasker and can manage multiple clients simultaneously
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) – and commitment to maintaining an open, transparent dialogue with colleagues and clients
Effective relationship-builder – we want our clients and your direct reports to enjoy working with you!

Annual Salary Range:  $75,000 - $95,000
