Excel Society seeks community-recognized Elders and Knowledge Keepers to foster cultural identity in Indigenous and Inuit youth and adults. Help share vital teachings and bridge understanding.
This role is tailored for individuals with deep cultural insights who are committed to empowering youth and adults in the Northwest Territories. You will share your traditional knowledge, offering guidance on spiritual practices while facilitating land-based learning experiences.
Your role aims to enhance cultural connections and promote respect within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide traditional teachings and cultural guidance
• Support others in understanding Indigenous worldviews
• Facilitate land-based learning experiences
• Encourage cultural respect across the organization
• Share personal experiences to enhance connection
Requirements:
• Acknowledged elder or knowledge keeper in your community
• Profound lived experience and wisdom
• Experience working with or mentoring youth
• Capacity to deliver teachings accessibly
• Comprehension of intergenerational trauma and revitalization
Contribute meaningfully by sharing your cultural insights and life experience within your community.
