Position: Tri-Cities Visual Language Interpreter Role
Become a Visual Language Interpreter with SD43 (Coquitlam), supporting 32,000 students in the Tri-Cities. This role is key in facilitating communication for deaf and hard of hearing learners within the educational framework.

You will operate within a school, working closely with educators to ensure all students receive necessary support. This role requires preparing and following up on interpreting sessions, enhancing curriculum delivery, and fostering positive relationships among staff and families. Your contributions will assist in creating a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate communication during classroom activities and events

• Prepare instructional materials for interpretable lessons

• Modify classroom resources for specific learning needs

• Ensure safety across educational activities

• Assist with classroom supervision and student interactions

Requirements:

• Certificate in sign language interpretation from a recognized college

• Driver's license may be required for transportation

• Must be a member of WAVLI in good standing

• Criminal background check necessary

• Experience in educational support roles is preferred
