YourNext Challenge
Reporting to the Superintendent, Exploration, you will be part of the Nunavut Exploration Department. Your first contribution in this role is to support the Exploration and Geology teams at the Hope Bay Project, helping to drive safe, efficient, and high‑quality drilling operations across the site. The intent of this position is to support drilling operations across Nunavut. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
Responsibilities- Lead and support diamond drilling, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality execution;
- Collaborate closely with site supervision and drilling contractors to align daily activities, optimize drilling practices, and resolve operational challenges;
- Monitor drilling performance, track KPIs, and identify opportunities to improve productivity, cost effectiveness, and overall operational excellence;
- Conduct regular site visits to verify compliance with policies, procedures, operational standards, and applicable occupational health and safety legislation;
- Support the development, implementation, and communication of drilling procedures, safety protocols, and best practices;
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship, fostering a strong safety culture and effective team performance;
- Coordinate with exploration, geology, health & safety, environment, and logistics teams to ensure integrated and efficient field operations;
- Contribute to contractor performance evaluations and promote respectful engagement with northern and Indigenous employees and partners in alignment with Agnico Eagle’s commitments;
- Participate in incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and corrective‑action planning related to drilling operations.
- Minimum of 15 years of surface drilling experience and at least 5 years of direct team supervision;
- Surface, permafrost and Underground drilling experience is considered an asset;
- Experience in an arctic climate, and multicultural environment is an asset;
- Possess leadership, good interpersonal skills, good communication skills and autonomy;
- Innovative spirit and desire to contribute to the advancement of the drilling industry;
- Modular Mine Worker Training (MMWT) and Common Core Training is considered an asset;
- Good organizational and problem‑solving abilities;
- Strong commitment to Health and Safety;
- Valid driver's license;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Schedule:
14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest.
Location:
Hope Bay Project. You may be required to travel to other Nunavut exploration projects, primarily in Nunavut, and the Drilling Excellence office located in Val‑d’Or, Quebec.
Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
Note that the official working language at the Hope Bay Project is English.
