Location: Riverview, Coquitlam, BC

Schedule: Tues - Sat 12pm-8pm

Salary Range
: $33.49 - $35.31

Start Date: As soon as possible.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing support services to individuals living in the Cottage Semi-Independent Living Program. Working within a psychosocial rehabilitation and trauma-informed framework, the position supports residents in maintaining housing stability, developing independent living skills, promoting wellness, and increasing community integration while ensuring a safe and supportive living environment. The position works collaboratively with internal staff, clinical teams, community agencies, and resident support networks in alignment with the mission, objectives, and policies of Coast Mental Health.

Typical Duties Include

  • Travel daily to residents’ homes and community locations to provide support, wellness checks, and assistance with independent living goals.
  • Support residents with daily living skills including medication routines, appointments, budgeting, housekeeping, nutrition, and personal care while promoting independence and choice.
  • Provide direct support with suite cleanliness, appointment attendance, and tenancy concerns, including liaising with landlords as needed.
  • Monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond appropriately to changes in mental health, behaviour, or functioning.
  • Utilize trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, crisis intervention, and de-escalation practices to support resident safety and stability.
  • Encourage participation in recreational, social, employment, and community activities that promote inclusion and engagement.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, healthcare providers, and community agencies to support continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including case notes, incident reports, medication records, and program statistics.
  • Promote a safe and respectful living environment and participate in team meetings, training, and program planning.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the scope of the position.
  • Job Qualifications
    * Required Qualifications

    Diploma in Community Social Service

    Certificates in First Aid + CPR, WHMIS

    Recent, related experience of two years Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work

    Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance

    Valid class 5 and access to a vehicle is an asset

    Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of forensic mental health practices, court processes, and Review Board procedure
  • Knowledge of housing issues and community resources
  • Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation practices
  • Knowledge of program policy and procedures
  • Knowledge and proficiency in relevant software
  • Ability to work with clients living with mental illness
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in cooperation with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
