Position Summary

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing process development activities within a complex manufacturing environment. This role will work closely with Product Development, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to transition new products from concept to full-scale production.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, validating, and optimizing manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and workflows to support new product launches while driving safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives. This position plays a critical role in ensuring products are designed for manufacturability and can be efficiently scaled into production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead manufacturing process development activities for new product introductions from prototype through production launch.
  • Develop manufacturing strategies, assembly methods, production workflows, and process specifications for new products.
  • Partner with Product Development teams to provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT) feedback throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support engineering builds, pilot production runs, design verification builds, and production readiness activities.
  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, jigs, test equipment, and production aids.
  • Create and maintain detailed manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, standard operating procedures, and build records.
  • Develop and execute process validation plans, capability studies, risk assessments, and production qualification activities.
  • Conduct PFMEA and process risk assessments to identify potential failure modes and establish robust manufacturing controls.
  • Coordinate process development activities with cross-functional teams to ensure successful transfer from product development into manufacturing.
  • Evaluate equipment requirements and implement automation or semi-automated solutions where appropriate.
  • Analyze manufacturing performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve product quality, throughput, yield, and cost.
  • Investigate manufacturing challenges and process deviations using structured root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on process capability, cycle-time reduction, productivity improvement, and waste elimination.
  • Perform tolerance analysis and assembly process assessments to ensure manufacturability and repeatability.
  • Support supplier qualification, component introduction, and manufacturing readiness activities as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting manufacturing, process development, or new product introduction activities.
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes for complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, or engineered products.
  • Strong understanding of NPI methodologies, product launch activities, and manufacturing scale-up.
  • Experience performing Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and process risk assessments.
  • Experience developing and qualifying production processes, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as Solid Works or equivalent.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Experience creating manufacturing documentation, process flows, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting product commercialization or design transfer activities.
  • Experience working within ISO-certified or other quality-managed manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of automated assembly systems, industrial equipment, vision systems, or production test platforms.
  • Familiarity with process capability studies, statistical analysis, and manufacturing validation techniques.
  • Experience introducing new manufacturing technologies, automation, or advanced production processes.
  • Exposure to low-volume/high-mix and medium-to-high volume production environments.
